**Job summary**:
A key purpose for the Home Estates Intelligent Client Function (ICF) is to ensure that operational colleagues have an estate and facilities which are modern, fit for purpose, environmentally sustainable and which allows staff to maximise their operational efficiency. The Estates ICF works closely with Business leads across the Region and with our delivery partners in MOJ Estates and GPA, to improve and optimise the use of buildings, facilities and provide solutions for any new business requirements.

This is a challenging area of work that can rapidly change in the agile environment we work in - this makes the Home Office one of the most exciting and stimulating government departments in which to work.

**Job description**:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Estates ICF as a Midlands and Yorkshire HEO Building Lead. The HEO building leads are the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Estates ICF in the regions performing a direct liaison role with the business, ensuring each site operates to its optimum capacity and that all teams on site work corporately within their allocated space by embracing appropriate smarter working practices and processes.

This role will focus on sites across Midlands and Yorkshire,(predominantly the Midlands with a supporting role for Sheffield and Leeds sites) working to the SEO Estates lead for Midlands and Yorkshire. This will be an exciting and varied role that will involve travel across the region, engaging with partners from all parts of the business.

The post holder will be expected to work core HO hours and can work flexibly. In lines with HO policy 40% attendance in the office at the chosen location will be required.

**Person specification**:
The key responsibilities for this role are:

- Work with estates delivery partners to support estates projects, providing a bridge between the project and the business.
- Work closely with business areas across the Home Office to help maintain an accurate view of building usage and occupancy.
- Supervise and assure FM performance at your sites, ensuring that FM delivery standards remain high and any issues or escalations are taken care of effectively.
- Building strong working relationships with local partners, representing the Estates ICF at building user groups and other local meetings.
- Support the regional head of estates business to develop and implement the HO estates strategy by feeding back local intelligence and highlighting opportunities to improve space utilisation or for capital investment.
- Identifying vacant and poorly used space. Reallocating space as required.
- Advising HO business areas on on how to progress their estates requirements through the estate’s governance process, by supporting them to develop robust requirements and challenging where appropriate.
- Support the SEO estates lead in planning and delivering requirements that do not require any capital project works such as minor moves and changes.
- Improving efficiency of the estate through effective occupier behaviour by championing wider strategic initiatives, e.g. smarter and flexible working.
- Support the implementation of the new desk booking tool at a national level, supporting the project team with onboarding sites onto the tool and communicating the with business areas.

**Essential criteria**
- Experience of working in an estates environment or involvement in estates focussed activities.
- Strong written & oral communication skills.
- Experience of stakeholder engagement with the ability to influence and persuade senior managers and work collaboratively with key partners.
- Good partner management skills

**Desirable criteria**
- Project delivery experience.
- Property qualification or membership of a property professional body.
- Experience of working in estates, workplace management or property role is desirable but not essential.
