**Job description**:
This is an exciting role in which you can provide leadership and support to our early careers Meteorologists, helping to shape the meteorologists of the future. Providing line management to a group of 15-20 individuals, you will support their development until they become qualified Meteorologists and join the Operational Meteorologist community.

You will be expected to travel for meetings (for which travel and subsistence costs will be provided) as the need arises, consistent with the reportees being located across the UK and sometimes abroad. You may on occasion have to work anti-social hours to meet the needs of your team.

You will need to attend leadership and management events and Weather Impacts and Advice (WIA) leadership meetings, sometimes in person, and to attend Services Roadshow events.

As our People Leaders for Early Career Meteorologists, your key responsibilities are:

- As an enthusiastic leader and role model, manage and guide a team of ECMs such that they are engaged, motivated and inspired as they progress on their training journey with the Met Office.
- Work with the ECMs in your team to ensure that they are supported and developed in the best way for them. Invest time in developing relationships with all team members, taking time to understand their motivations and what energises them, unlocking their potential and promoting a culture of development within the team.
- Provide Line Management (1RM) for the ECMs.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the Met Office, and building on already-established processes, lead on the recruitment of future ECMs into the Met Office.
- Working with colleagues across the Met Office, steer the co-ordination required so that the ECMs are able to undertake the necessary detachments that may be required as part of their development.
- Working with colleagues across the Met Office, facilitate the activities that ECMs are expected to undertake during the course of their training cycle, such as the OMFC Services week and On-the-Job training.
