Family Ambassador

Willerby, United Kingdom Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This is a new and much needed role to support families whose children are admitted to inpatient CAMHS hospital.
- Do you have knowledge of the mental health, learning disability and autism pathways through lived experience?
- Do you have understanding of the challenges facing young people and family carers?

Family Ambassadors are new roles developed nationally by the Quality Improvement Taskforce in co-production with our Parent's Council. The project was developed in response to a range of recommendations from various reports identifying that the voice of parents and carers in their young persons' pathway is often not heard and can be excluded from essential decisions. The Family Ambassador will champion 'parents as partners' in their children and young people's healthcare needs with an understanding of the benefits this brings.

The Family Ambassador is a nonclinical, non-statutory role but will work alongside clinical teams within the inpatient units situated within the Humber and North Yorkshire footprint to support them to build pathways and opportunities to ensure all parents/carers of children and young people are treated as partners. The Family Ambassador post will sit alongside the newly developed Humber and North Yorkshire Keyworker Service.
