**The Position**:
The duties you will be performing as part of your role:

- Act as an impartial and independent inspector for building works, ensuring adherence to high standards, specifications, and schedules.
- Verify the use of correct materials, maintain high-quality workmanship, and ensure accurate pricing.
- Support the Council's capital works programme, aiming for carbon-neutral social housing by 2030 and delivering the Notting Dale Heat Network.
- Assist in delivering the capital works programme for Lancaster West and Grenfell Housing Services.
- Review contract documentation, including drawings, specifications, and contract conditions.
- Conduct inspections of construction works to ensure compliance with contract documentation, instructions, and good practices.
- Provide feedback to the project team based on inspection findings.
- Advise on practical implications of design implementation and highlight areas for improvement.
- Take measurements and samples on-site to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Identify the need for specialist testing and witness tests in progress, reporting findings to project managers.
- Inspect construction works for compliance with statutory regulations such as Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Maintain comprehensive and well-structured records of site conditions and progress to aid contract administration.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

- A good standard of general education and evidence of continued professional development is essential.
- Possession of a construction trade or management qualification.
- Experience in inspecting construction work to ensure compliance with contract documentation, regulations, and good practices.
- Demonstrable knowledge of construction technology.
- Familiarity with the contractual terms found in standard forms of building contracts relevant to the role of Clerk of Works.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to the role.
- Awareness of equality and diversity issues relevant to construction projects in the social housing sector.
- Proficiency in using IT tools, including Microsoft systems such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret contract documentation, including construction drawings and specifications.
- Capability to inspect construction works to ensure compliance with contract documentation, regulations, and good practice.

**Contract Duration: 3 Months **(likely extension)

**Rate**:£33 per hour (Umbrella)

**Commencement Date**: March 2024

**Work Hours**:39 Hours, Monday - Friday / 9 am - 5 pm
