Civils Operative

**Key Responsibilities: -**
- Responsibility for personal and site safety;
- Responsible for operating to standards of safety, compliance & competence required by own professional driving qualifications;
- Gangers are expected to be able to instruct team members to complete assigned work and complete jobs within the timeframe allocated;
- Gangers are expected to be able to organise themselves to meet job requirements and organise the team accordingly;
- Carry out general Utilities work as instructed by the Supervisor;
- Operate and maintain at least two pieces of plant, drive vans, pickup trucks and relevant attachments;
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, business policy & procedure and local instruction & guidance;
- Ensure full and correct use of vehicles, plant and materials, keeping wastage to a minimum;
- Develop good relationships with all customers, site agents, project managers and team leaders, and provide site support for customer enquiries;
- Any ad-hoc duties that may occur as instructed by the management team or team leader/ganger;
- Communicating with the supervisor and other colleagues as required to update them on progress, timely communication when unexpected issues arise on-site;
**Key Skills and Preferred Qualifications: -**

UK clean driving licence;
NRSWA Supervisor or Operative Qualification; (preferred)

Valid CSCS Card; (preferred)

NPORS or CPCS Excavator

NPORS or CPCS Dumper

First Aid

Abrasive Wheels

Cat & Geny

Manual Handling

Must be able to be available as part of a Callout rota;
Able to operate in a flexible and adaptable manner and work as part of a team;
Experience in excavation, backfilling & reinstatement of trenches on utility contracts;
Have reasonable written and numerical skills;
Committed;
Hardworking;
Reliable;
Punctual;
Good communicator;
A good self-organiser;
Self-motivating;
Generally to be willing, helpful, enthusiastic and flexible;
To be able to work as part of a team;
Open to attend training programmes to increase individual skills and knowledge;

Pension available

The rate of pay is negotiable depending on experience.

Pay: £11.50-£17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 - 60 per week
