Assistant Director of People

**Main duties of the job**:
The Occupational Health and Wellbeing Lead will work with the Medical, Administrative and Staff Wellbeing Leads and the Assistant Director of People to provide professional leadership and management across the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Services being responsible for the Occupational Health Nursing, Administrative Team and the Wellbeing Team.

The post holder will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of the workforce, guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based practice which will be delivered within a hospital, community and outreach setting. The post holder will be a strong clinical leader, and look to modernise services and ensure the active involvement of service users and partners in the way Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing services are developed, delivered and evaluated.

The post holder will promote, maintain and improve the physical and psychological wellbeing of all employees of the Trust and other NHS and non-NHS staff for which the departments provide services. They will provide specialist Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing advice to the employer organisation in respect of the interpretation of legal requirements and government policy.

The post holder will act as the lead for Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing requirements for strategic working within the health community and across strategic partnerships.

The post holder will work flexibly across the Trusts sites.

The Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing Services are part of the Corporate HR department and are comprised of a multi disciplinary team. They deliver a wide range of services and initiatives. The Occupational Health team provide services across the NHS and other public and private sector organisations. Our services include:
Pre-employment screening, statutory medicals, post employment checks for staff, immunity and vaccination.

Advice on work placement, sickness absence and adjustments

Access to support services including in house counselling service, Employee Assistance Programme

Advice on the work environment and health and safety issues including monitoring

Health promotion events and advise on healthy lifestyles

A variety of mental health initiatives

Training and support courses

**Essential criteria**:

- Qualified Nurse Practitioner Registered with appropriate regulatory body
- Registered Specialist Practitioner Community Public Health Nurse (Part 3 NMC) or equivalent
- Masters degree or equivalent experience and training
- Additional management training or equivalent level of experience

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service.
- Line management experience

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of working with private contractors
- Experience of working in Occupational Health in the NHS

**Communication and relationship skills**:

- Ability to work in partnership and influence others developing credible relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
