We require someone truly passionate about passing on the love of geography to our students. As part of this role you will be supported by and work alongside the Head of Department who is a History specialist. This is an amazing opportunity for a well-established teacher, or someone who is looking for their first middle leadership role.

The Second in Humanities is responsible for aspects of teaching and learning throughout the Academy alongside the Head of Humanities. This involves the leadership and support of the staff as well as the management, organisation and administration of the work of the department.

- Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning
- Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students
- Have knowledge of National Curriculum requirements, writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students’ work
- Be able to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff
- Have a good level of ICT skills
- Be able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students
- Be able to lead and manage their own work effectively
- Be able to motivate students and raise their aspirations through a range of strategies

The department is a well-established department consisting of 7 teachers of History, Geography and Life. It is an exciting time in our department as we have recently redesigned our KS3 curriculum, which is engaging and innovative, enabling us to get the very best out of our students.

As well as support from our fantastic team, there is also the opportunity to gain support from other areas in the trust. This includes CPD from the Geography unlocked programme, which offer bespoke sessions on how to develop your Geography teaching. Furthermore, you will also have the chance to develop yourself as a middle leader, by attending development days to network with directors and other middle leaders across the trust. Subject Directors are also available to provide specific support for new curriculum concepts and topics being covered.

**Salary**: MPS/UPS with TLR2a - (£28,000 to £43,685 plus £3017 per annum)
