**What is the working practice for this role?**

You might have enjoyed working from home and would like to split your time between there and the office/ other work locations. Others may be eager to return to the office on a more regular basis. We believe that a regular level of in-person contact is an important way to build connections with your colleagues, enhancing knowledge and idea sharing and enabling all of us to benefit from the vibrant office culture Browne Jacobson has to offer.

Our expectation is that, **on average**, you’ll work from home for no more than three days per week, with the remainder of your time either spent with your colleagues in the office or working from other locations as work demands dictate, e.g. courts, client offices, conferences etc. This is an average expectation over time and we know that there will be variations from week to week. Equally, there will be individual circumstances in which a different pattern of work is needed, for example as an agreed reasonable adjustment for colleagues with a disability or long-term medical condition.

**Purpose of the role**

The role sits within the Restructuring & Insolvency team, which itself is part of the Business Services department of the firm. The team works for numerous well-known local, national and international clients and intermediaries in the private sector and a broad range of clients in the public sector. The team, as a whole, has experienced significant growth in the last few years and consistently attracts work of a high calibre, value and complexity. In the East Midlands it is ranked number 1 in Legal 500 for its insolvency work.

The Restructuring & Insolvency team is now looking to recruit an Associate with broad experience and transferable skills to help service current work flows and to strengthen the team to enable further growth. You will have the opportunity to become involved in high calibre and high value contentious and non-contentious assignments. **Responsibilities**
- advising clients in both the public and private sectors on the impact of insolvency, insolvency options and outcomes
- advising clients in relation to the recovery of debts including, if appropriate, via service of a statutory demand
- familiarity with the Insolvency Act 1986, the Insolvency Rules 2016 and the Civil Procedure Rules
- drafting pleadings, Instructions to Counsel, witness statements and letters of advice
- competent and proactive case management experience
- contributing towards marketing efforts and other non-chargeable projects of the department, including assisting in the preparation of and /or speaking at seminars, drafting training programmes, keeping precedents up-to date and
