St. Pierre's Old Course is one of the best parkland layouts in the country, and is a recognised tournament host, having welcomed the top LPGA professionals for the Solheim Cup in 1996. The course has matured nicely into a genuine challenge for even the best golfers, with some particularly memorable holes. A round on the old reaches a crescendo with the superb closing two, where golfers must negotiate the 17th green, almost surrounded by an expansive water hazard, and the final hole's difficult elevated green.

Our Mathern Course, although considerably shorter than the Old, is an extremely enjoyable layout. It is parkland in style, but players must also tackle the mature trees that provide obstacles on many holes. Opened in 1975, the Mathern continues to delight visitors with some very good golf, and even better views of the surrounding Monmouthshire countryside.

The Old Course Supervisor is required to work with the deputy course manager and course manager in a supporting roll, setting the standard for the operational associates in relation to productivity levels, attitude, presentation standards for any tasks undertaken, plus their own personal presentation. The Old Course Supervisor is also required to control task completion standards, which must include when required, communication with the deputy course manager or the course manager.

The Course and Gardens department must be managed to ensure that the quality and presentation of the course and grounds are to a standard which maximises utilisation and meets guest and member expectations, enabling the achievement of business objectives. The Old Course Supervisor has a vital role in the team by being the permanent eyes in one particular area of the business, with the responsibility for supervising the day-today quality and quantity of work carried on the Old course. This would include insuring that all health and safety controls, including PPE are in place for all tasks.

As part of the supervisory role responsibility, the Old Course Supervisor will be required to train and monitor any associate working on the area for which they are responsible in the work method best suited to that particular area. As a result the performance and standards of the Old Course Supervisor must be the very highest, thereby, following the Marriott value of being people-centred, by employing the guiding principal of Leading By Example.
