Job Description

**JOB PURPOSE**

To help equip people in recovery from mental ill health and those with an acquired brain injury with the facility for self-empowerment in order to attain more satisfying and valued lifestyles. This will be done by providing education and instruction in practical and employment-related skills. Manufacturing high-quality, hand-crafted goods for sale to the general public, our Social Enterprise portfolio comprises of the following Workshops: Picture Framing, Graphic and Wedding Stationery design, Crafts and Upcycling. Working as part of a team of co-ordinators, the post holder will be responsible for the day to day smooth running of their allocated Workshop and associated business activity.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. To enable individuals recovering from mental health problems to develop and establish work skills through a therapeutic and creative medium.

2. To develop concepts for products and create patterns and templates to guide production of finished article.

3. To assist individuals to develop their own practical skills in the production of a variety of products and to impart new skills/techniques.

4. To encourage individuals to develop social skills through working in a group setting.

5. To be involved in the recruitment and assessment of potential service-users, including individual contract agreements and skills-based learning programmes.

6. To liaise with other projects in the group via their line manager in order to ensure the smooth operation of our shared premises and each project’s remit within it.

7. To liaise with other mental health or employment services as directed by their line manager.

8. To ensure regular business meetings take place within the project in order to promote ownership of all aspects of the business.

9. To maintain accurate records of personnel and business activity, including stocktaking and ordering of materials.

10. To carry out any other duties, consistent with the post, as requested by management.

11. To ensure a health and safety environment by complying with organisational policy and current Health and Safety Legislation.

Turning Point Scotland operates a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers in order to provide the required support to someone who uses our services. Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, or sickness absence and to provide additional support during periods of peak activity etc

When there is suitable work available within a service, a manager will contact Relief Workers offer them a shift/series of shifts. As a Relief Worker you will be well-placed to fit your work around your existing work or other commitments and you will be under no pressure or obligation to accept work from us if it does not suit you to do so. Once work is offered and accepted by you however, there is an expectation that you will make every effort to attend to undertake that shift. Your reliability in this regard is very important to our services and to the people we support who will be expecting you.

Relief Workers submit a Time Sheet to claim payment for the hours they have worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and you will be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work for us.
