Hello

My name is Alice Smilie, I am the Operational Manager of the John Radcliffe Pharmacy. I am privileged to lead our very hardworking, friendly, and committed Dispensary team in providing a dispensary service, supplying inpatient, outpatient, and discharge medication to Patients of the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Prompt delivery of medications will support patient flow through the hospital, and ultimately get our patients home. You will need to be organised, with good time management to ensure that you deliver on time and provide a valued service to our patients and nursing staff.

As a Pharmacy Porter you will be required deliver medications to ward areas at regular intervals thought the day. You will be self motivated, organised and able to work on your own initiative. You will also work as part of a team of Pharmacy Porters and the wider Pharmacy team to deliver shared objectives.

You will support the training of pharmacy apprentices, who work alongside Pharmacy Porters at points during their training, where they learn the ropes of all aspects of Dispensary, including this very important role

You will support the Pharmacy stores team on the John Radcliffe Hospital site by collecting deliveries, providing a fluid top up service to clinical areas, unpacking of bulk IV fluid orders and processing and picking of fluid orders - requiring good attention to detail to ensure you supply the correct stocks. You will also be involved in stock management procedures including expiry date checking and processing overstocked fluids from inside the hospital.

The dispensary team is a friendly and hardworking team of 28 staff ranging from Apprentices through to band 7 Technicians. Many of our staff progress and go on to complete Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician qualifications, or take other roles within the wider Pharmacy team.

This is a full-time position 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with working hours of 10:30-18:30. Flexible working patterns will be considered.

If you are interested in an informal discussion about the Pharmacy Porter role, I would be very happy to hear from you. You are welcome to call the number below, or to make an appointment so that we can show you around and answer your questions.

Please refer to the attached job description for further detailed information regarding the role and main responsibilities.
