Furnace Operative

We are currently recruiting for a furnace Operator to join a busy team. This is an opportunity to carve out a valuable career in an expanding manufacturing business.

The position will be on a 3 shift (8 hour) pattern, between Monday to Friday, covering days, afternoons and nights. There will be an opportunity to pick up overtime as the business is expanding. The professional development for each operator is taken seriously and training and courses are there for any relevance to the job in hand.
- Operate and monitor furnace equipment to ensure proper functioning and adherence to safety protocols
- Load and unload materials into the furnace using appropriate tools and equipment
- Set and adjust furnace controls to achieve desired temperature, pressure, and time parameters
- Monitor gauges, meters, and other instruments to ensure proper operation of the furnace
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the furnace, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or malfunctions that may arise during the operation of the furnace
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment

Skills required
- Mechanical knowledge: Understanding of how machinery works and ability to perform basic maintenance tasks
- Tooling: Proficiency in using various tools and equipment related to furnace operation
- Welding, assembling, fabricating: Ability to perform basic welding, assembling, and fabricating tasks as required
- Sheet metal: Knowledge of working with sheet metal materials and ability to handle them safely
- Hand tools: Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools for maintenance and repair tasks
- Basic math skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for measuring materials and adjusting furnace settings
