**Main Purpose of the Post**

To assist Senior Architectural/Building Surveying Officers with the design and contract administration of large projects and to undertake the design and contract administration of small projects under supervision of Senior Officers.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- To carry out surveys as necessary, prepare drawings, specifications and schedules. To carry out contract supervision of projects, as directed by Senior Officers
- Ensure that projects under their control are monitored and controlled in a manner consistent with the Q.A. procedures and Financial Regulations of the Authority.
- Plan, monitor and control groups of projects within agreed timescales, budgets and acceptable quality standards.
- To liaise with other departments and external agencies involved in the projects to ensure that the projects progress with the greatest efficiency in terms of cost, quality and time.
- To assist in the management and control of contracts, as required by Senior Architectural/Building Surveying Officers.
- To maintain good relations with Project Stakeholders, clients and other parties, to ensure that the principles of customer care are delivered.
- Become familiar with the Council’s Financial Regulations and procedures, particularly those relating to Quality Assurance and Investors in People, to ensure compliance.
- Where necessary, the post holder will assume control of multi-disciplined project monitoring/reporting duties under supervision of Senior Officers.
- To promote energy efficient designs throughout the County Borough Council and to liaise with the Authority’s Energy Officer and M&E Section on design issues and new energy directives/legislation.
- To be aware of and comply with the Health and Safety of Work Act and the CDM Regulations.
- To carry out other appropriate duties as directed by the Project Director.

**Standards of Performance**
- Help to ensure that contracts are completed within budget to the required quality standards and to programme.
- Ensure a good client/consultant relationship through standards of customer care.
- To implement the developments QA system and ensure conformance with all procedures.
- To complete contract administration in a timely manner to ensure compliance with the terms of the appropriate construction contracts.
- Submit financial information within agreed timescales, i.e. timesheets, mileage claims, invoices, etc.
- Maintain good team morale and productivity.

**Welsh Language**:Welsh language skills are not required
