Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist mental health, learning disability, and community healthcare services for the population of the Black Country.

The Power2 Team is a multi-disciplinary team, providing a service for vulnerable children and young adults up to age 25 who have either survived exploitation, are experiencing exploitation or at risk of exploitation. The team uses a trauma-informed approach to support, aiming to reduce further risk of harm.

The **Mental** **Health Practitioner **will be a resource for the whole team, will undertake group work and will work directly with individual young people, families, and carers. The post holder will have experience working in a mental health setting and with children and young people who have experienced adverse events in childhood and will have experience and understanding of the impact of adverse childhood experiences on lifelong consequences for a person’s health and well-being.

**Main duties of the job**:
The Mental Health Practitioner will be a resource for the whole team, will undertake group work and will work directly with individual young people, families, and carers. The post holder will have experience working in a mental health setting and with children and young people who have experienced adverse events in childhood and will have experience and understanding of the impact of adverse childhood experiences on lifelong consequences for a person’s health and well-being. **Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
*To maintain therapeutic and supportive relationships with young people up to age of 25 years often with severe and complex mental health issues.
*To interact with young people, family members and carers on sensitive and
emotive issues both face to face, remotely and in writing.
*To be responsible for providing advice and guidance on mental health issues to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
*To implement a trauma informed approach in the interactions with young people, family members and carers and to be a champion for trauma informed practice.
*To be a link between the team and BCHFT.
*To engage regularly with other team members on issues regarding specific mental health issues.
*To maintain confidentiality around frequently sensitive issues.
*To present and provide consultation to other professionals in relation to mental health issues, theory and practice.
*As required to provide training to the team and groups of professionals or families and carers, using verbal, written and visual skills.
*To undertake activities necessary for raising awareness of Power2 with local agencies.
*To take an active involvement in working parties concerned with specific developments and interest areas. *To support the participation of children, young people and parents/carers in service development and change.
*To participate in staff development, appraisal and training as appropriate, including continuous professional development.
*To participate in the wider development of the service and contribute to service improvement as required.

*Experience of working with children and young adults

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5 months

**Salary**: £35,392.00-£42,345.00 per year
