We are looking for a Fire Safety Subject Matter Expert to join the Facilities Design Authority to assist in the assurance of Fire Safety Management arrangements for all matters relating to conventional and nuclear facilities, structures, process plant and associated Infrastructure within the Submarines business.

What you will be doing:
You will provide advice and guidance on the necessary fire safety standards to the relevant Design Authorities, designers and maintainers regarding design, installation/construction, maintenance, operation and modification of nuclear and conventional Infrastructure and plant.
- Provide design and build assurance to all Submarines infrastructure projects.
- Assure Rolls-Royce and Regulatory Fire Safety requirements have been appropriately incorporated into the design and modification of new and existing facilities and associated infrastructure.
- Assure the safe operation, inspection and maintenance of the Fire Safety plant and equipment operated by RRSL Ensure that this plant and equipment is available at all times throughout the assets lifecycle.
- To provide guidance and advice to Responsible Person(s) (as defined by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) to assure the correct level of Fire Safety provision is applied to premises and manufacturing plant across the Submarines business. This should be addressed in terms of life safety, property protection and business interruption.
- To represent Rolls-Royce through participating as a member of the Nuclear Industry Fire Safety Co-ordinating Committee and other appropriate industry working groups and cross industry bodies.

- Preferably Degree qualified in an appropriate discipline but as minimum has obtained a qualification at Diploma level or equivalent.
- Member of the Institution of Fire engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers.,
- In-depth knowledge of Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Approved Document to Part B of the Building regulations and BS 9999.
- Experienced in the design, construction and operation of regulated and conventional structures within the UK from a fire safety perspective.
- Experienced in the design, deployment and assurance of Fire Safety management Systems - ideally within an industrial environment.
- Capable of taking a risk-based pragmatic view and have good technical and management skills including problem solving and decision making.
