**Brainkind is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people** **with brain injuries in the UK.** Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support people to regain the skills they have lost. **About us**:
Stagenhoe is a Brainkind specialist neurological care centre based in Hertfordshire, caring for people aged 18 and over a range of neurological conditions. At Stagenhoe, we provide the care people need to optimise their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence and support their emotional and social needs. We provide specialist neurological care, rehabilitation and support tailored to the individual needs of people with a range of neurological conditions.

Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support and help improve the lives of people with a neurological condition or brain injury.

**Main Purpose**:
To develop and manage a supportive and inspiring volunteer programme that enables the charity to thrive in its ambition to deliver more care for more people.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Regularly review the needs of the charity and ensure volunteers are driving forward key areas of development as well as supporting established services.
- Put measures in place to celebrate diversity and make our volunteer opportunities inclusive.
- Work with the central volunteer team to carry out an annual volunteering audit.
- Measure the impact of volunteering locally and work towards agreed KPIs.
- Deliver a plan to recruit the right volunteers with the right skills to match organisational needs.
- Ensure all procedures are in place to deliver safe, risk managed volunteer services in line with the charity’s policies and procedures.
- Increase the support volunteers provide in community settings.
- Plan and host knowledge sharing and social sessions for volunteers.
- Make the best use of digital to increase our efficiency, raise our profile and create new and accessible virtual volunteering opportunities.
- Act as a central point of contact for volunteers and volunteering enquiries.
- Empower paid staff by providing the tools, knowledge and skills required for them to deliver excellent volunteer support.
- Develop and manage partnerships with external stakeholders including universities/volunteering hubs/ local community groups and other organisations and businesses in order to recruit volunteers.
- Facilitate a high standard of role specific training, induction, supervision and communication for volunteers.
- Celebrate volunteer success and manage any capability issues swiftly and with professionalism.
- Help internal stakeholders to understand the role of volunteers and the contribution they can make.
- Liaise with the centre's multidisciplinary team and externally to achieve the best outcomes for service users.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the staff team and the central volunteering team.

**About you**:

- Previous experience of managing/working with teams of volunteers
- An understanding of safeguarding and managing risk
- An understanding of legislation and best practice guidance relating to volunteering
- An understanding of voluntary sector organisations and partnership working
- An understanding of and a commitment to equal opportunities
- An understanding of and commitment to data protection and confidentiality
- Previous experience of recruitment/selection processes
- Problem solving ability
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the post
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
- Good understanding or experience of working within a health and social care setting with vulnerable adults
- Ability to facilitate meetings and workshops effectively
- Ability to travel around the area
