About the role
At Cambridgeshire County Council, we provide transport for children and young people who attend mainstream education, Special Educational Needs settings and respite. We are fortunate to have a small team of fantastic drivers as part of this provision, who currently deliver a caring, safe and reliable service. We are now looking to expand our team of drivers to provide this service to more of our families.

If you are someone who likes driving and getting out and about and can make our children and young people feel at ease on their journey, then this role is for you. Although you will be working independently, a member of the Passenger Transport Service is at the other end of the phone and there is a network of other casual drivers for you to link in with too. You will be fully trained and supported so you feel comfortable and confident in your role.

As a casual driver working on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council, you will be required to collect allocated children/young people from their home, school or other point and deliver them safely to their destination. You will meet a range of children and young people and their families, provide a warm welcome and make each person feel comfortable for their journey.

Casual drivers are contracted to work agreed hours for Cambridgeshire County Council however, the frequency and quantity of hours are flexible and determined by your availability.
