The Editorial Copywriter is a member of the Design & Editorial team within Imperial’s Communications Division. The Division works to show and tell Imperial’s stories to engage and inspire audiences, advance Imperial’s reputation, and create lasting connections for and with its community.

Working with the Editorial Content Manager, the Editorial Copywriter delivers a diverse range of print publications, digital content, marketing material, and event and campaign collateral. They support colleagues across Imperial in their use of the university’s brand identity, tone of voice and writing guidelines.

Following a major overhaul of Imperial’s brand identity, a key part of this role is working with colleagues in the Design & Editorial team to develop and implement Imperial’s new verbal identity.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Writing digital content, including editorial features, for Imperial’s new website, and bringing our new brand narrative to life online.
- Commissioning and briefing freelance and agency support where required, helping to manage processes, maintain relationships and co-ordinate feedback from stakeholders.
- Prioritising and managing timelines and overview of project schedules to ensure content is created on time and in collaboration with the work of other Design & Editorial colleagues.
- Be a guardian of the Imperial editorial style and ensure all materials reflect the brand accurately. Provide editorial guidance and copywriting support on printed publications and marketing materials produced by colleagues around the university. Help colleagues to develop creative briefs, establish communication with project leads, advise on external agencies where required and ensure appropriate use of Imperial’s verbal identity.
- Working with the Design & Editorial team to maintain the visual identity section of Imperial’s website, including monitoring metrics and reviewing the success of site content.

**Essential requirements**:

- Significant professional experience working in an editorial and/or copywriting role in a busy, complex organisation.
- A successful track record of managing copywriting projects, including handling multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience of working with creative professionals and external suppliers.
- An understanding of the importance of SEO and practical experience of using SEO tools to improve the reach of website content.
- Exceptional writing skills - ability to write clear, concise, and engaging copy for a range of audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy and consistency.
