**About us**
Avencia consulting is partnered with a commercial insurer seeking an AIR catastrophe modeller for their London office. This is an exciting role as its a first of its kind for this client.

**The role**

**1. **To drive an appropriate branch Catastrophe Modelling function. Working closely with home office ‘Catastrophe Modelling’ department.
2. Support the branch in our ambition to provide market leading catastrophe analytics and control of our business.

3. Contribute to the delivery of branch and home office systems, projects and activities in line with the Company’s strategy and business plan

4. To support the Head of Actuarial in developing the objectives for the function by providing sound advice and clearly communicated risks and assumptions

5. To ensure that the relevant people receive timely and comprehensive MI.

**Key accountabilities**
- Nat-cat modelling of Delegated Authority accounts via third-party vendor models (mainly Touchstone) and if applicable in-house developed tools
- Nat-cat modelling of Single Risk portfolios and supporting the company Nat cat exposure system SPEX
- Upon request, SR account modelling (e.g. Olympic Games for Contingency)
- Advising underwriters regarding portfolio changes and impact on nat-cat results (scenario analysis, portfolio optimization etc)
- Contribution towards selected projects (infrastructure (e.g. SPEX), model validation, model development)
- Review and calculation of CAT loss ratios and premium projections used in the business planning cycle
- Responsible for ensuring documentation is completed for various reports, committees as required by the company for functional area
- Provide advice, recommendations and solutions to colleagues for projects that will assist in implementing the HDI Global Specialty strategy
- To provide timely and MI to Underwriting and Management to enable comprehensive Nat-Cat exposure management with respect to aggregate management and efficient capacity utilisation
- Support for reinsurance pricing

**Skills & experience**
- Communication Skills - Builds influencing strategies that achieve change significant change in stakeholder positions by understanding all parties’ positions and demonstrates advanced influencing techniques. Strong presentation skills both in person and through documentation
- Preventing and Solving Problems - breaks down and analyses complex problems and uses specialised techniques to analyse and solve the problem
- Planning and Organising - The flexibility, drive and ability to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining a high quality output

Collaborating with others - Creates healthy stakeholder relationships and networks across the group in order to successfully challenge and solve conflict.
- **Experience of MI production**
- **Experienced user in software relevant to cat modelling preferably AIR Touchstone**
- **Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and VBA for excel**
- Experience in nat-cat modelling of worldwide property and specialty business via third party vendor models, preferably AIR Touchstone
- Experience of London market specialty business
