As a Melting Operative you will be reporting into the Foundry Manager. Day to day duties include:
Foundry melting experience in either vacuum melting or atmospheric
Ensure pre melt checks are undertaken.
Weigh out melt/ heat charge weight.
Ensure all charge material is from certified stock.
Take receipt of ceramic moulds from the shelling department and set up ready for vacuum melting.
Complete foundry melt sheets and scan for records.
Record all information from each melt as per operating procedure and input into WIP.
Remove mould and assembly from furnace after casting and dismantle moulds as per operating procedure.
Record and report any NCR's that are identified after casting.
Complete route card as required.
Transfer castings to the next department within the process loop.
The melting operative will be involved in both disciplines of melting so previous experience of working with furnaces / melting at some level is essential. This role would suit some with experience of working as a Melter, Melting Operative, Ladle Operative, Furnace Operative or Forge Operative within a Heavy Engineering, Heat Treatment, Castings, Steelworks or Manufacturing environment.
