Speech and Language Therapy Practitioner
Location: Peripatetic - Powys
**Salary**: £17,600 per annum based on 30 per week
We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapy Practitioner to join our team. Following programmes set by the Speech and Language Therapist, you will work independently with children, young adults and adults, who have complex specialised needs.
You will collect information to contribute to the assessments of our service users and to analyse responses to treatment and feedback suggested changes in delivery to the Speech and Language Therapist.
**A day in the life of a **Speech and Language Therapy Practitioner **with Orbis Education and Care Involves**:
- Working independently with service users both individually and in small groups, in a range of settings, accessing support from the Speech and Language Therapist as required;
- Taking the initiative to adapt and modify therapy programmes in conjunction with the Speech and Language Therapist;
- Being empathetic with service users, carers, families and colleagues, ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where barriers to understanding exist;
- Preparing and organising therapy activities and equipment for own or others therapy, within a programme agreed with the supervising Speech and Language Therapist;
- Supporting the Speech and Language Therapist in ensuring people are involved in planning and prioritisation of their care plans wherever possible;
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate case notes in line with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists Professional Standards, and Company policies;
- Working alongside the Speech and Language Therapist in producing reports on progress and summarizing action plans.
**To be a successful **Speech and Language Therapy Practitioner **with Orbis Education and Care, you'll need**:
- B. Tech/NVQ3 in Speech and Language therapy support or NVQ 3 in Social Care or equivalent
- Current driving licence and a willingness to travel
- Experience of working with people who have communication Impairments in a complex special needs environment;
- Awareness of communication systems (PECS, Makaton, TEACCH);
- Experience of multi - disciplinary team working;
- Motivated and enthusiastic;
- Committed to personal development;
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
