The focus of Early Help is to improve family functioning and build the family’s own capability to deal effectively with challenges, within a structured evidence-based framework to deliver high quality support and intervention to children and their families to improve outcomes. This involves providing a multi-agency approach with support for partner agencies.

Our aim is to ensure children, young people and their families receive the right level of support, as early as possible, to tackle emerging problems and prevent issues from escalating.
- Strong communication skills to effectively advise and guide agencies in Early Help matters (either face-to-face or over the phone).
- The role holder will deliver high quality direct support to individuals and families managing existing and possible future risks through assessment and plans created with the individual needs of the service user as the priority.
- To be able to work in coordination with partners and professionals. The role holder will assist service users to engage with support services provided by both statutory and voluntary agencies, ensuring that the family is appropriately supported and therefore able to contribute actively in the community.
- The role holder will provide advice and expertise, particularly in relation to new initiatives, to partner agencies and stakeholders to promote the service and represent the rights and needs of the vulnerable residents of Manchester.
- A key part of the role is building a strength based positive relationship with the family. This involves working in partnership with families to identify what support needs to be in place.
- The role holder needs to be experienced in conducting assessments and have a persistent approach to engage families and are flexible within this. They need to understand the children’s daily lived experience and support parents to improve outcomes for children.
- Knowledge of multi-agency working and the safeguarding framework.
- Familiarity with attachment (including adverse childhood experiences) and emotional dysregulation issues.
- Are an excellent team member, having good time management, able to prioritise workload, multi-task and be flexible across their workday.
