As a member of the Technical Operations Team, you will report to the Technical Resources Manager and

assist them to maintain the day-to-day operation of the Technical and Engineering Stores.

You will assist with supporting the broadcast requirements of Volant Media at our London HQ and for our

Bureaus Worldwide.

Ensure 24/7 access to the Technical Stores, Broadcast assets and ENG equipment at Volant Media.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assuming the operational role of the Technical Stores Manager, as required, when they are unavailable, or are off site.
- Operation and maintenance of the Technical Stores systems, encompassing ENG, Broadcast and OB equipment, Engineering spares, it also includes equipment hired by the company.
- Ensuring that all equipment held within the Stores System is kept in good order and is fully prepared and ready to deploy on a 24/7 basis.
- Ensuring that stocks of consumable supplies such as batteries, tape, cables, etc are kept at acceptable levels and reordered as required.
- Ensuring that all equipment issued from or returned to the Stores system are properly recorded in the Technical Asset Management system, including the logging, tracking and allocation of assets to ensure efficient and effective use of available resources.
- Helping to ensure 24/7 access to all equipment and resources as required by Broadcast Production and Newsgathering Operations.
- Organisation of the equipment held within the ENG and Technical Stores to ensure efficient access and use of available space.
- Maintenance of the technical equipment within the Tech Stores system, ensuring it is fully operational, including organising repairs and replacements as required.
- Routine PAT testing of equipment.
- Working with the various Newsdesks and programme departments to ensure that deployments are properly planned, resourced and documented.
- Assist with technical support to the crews and journalists regarding the correct operation of equipment in the field, and the resolution of any problems that arise.
- Ensure that Safe Working Practice documentation is provided, and that appropriate training is given for the safe operation of all equipment issued from the Stores.
- Assist with the daily functions of the Goods Inwards Department, as required.
- Receiving deliveries of equipment and supplies, logging receipt, and internal distribution.
- Assist in preparing equipment for shipping, import and export, including an understanding of ATA Carnets, equipment lists and proof of origin documentation necessary for compliance with customs and safety requirements.
- Some work off site may be required, including Outside Broadcasts, training and equipment installation and commissioning.
- Ensure that all work carried out is compliant with Health and Safety legislation, and that current working practices are implemented.
- The operational rota will cover 7 days a week, including public holidays.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Understanding of broadcast technical principles and operational working practices within a news environment.
- Experience of working in a broadcast or newsgathering environment, with an understanding of the requirements of live broadcast, would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to provide technical advice, guidance, and expertise on broadcast technology.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for the job, and able to follow tasks through to the end without having to be driven.
- Understanding of Health and Safety at Work legislation, and the importance of working safely within the rules relevant to this role..
- Focus on providing outstanding customer service to all internal and external groups.
