**Contract**: 22.5 hours per week, permanent

**Salary**: £21,507.75 pro rata (£12,904.65 actual)

**Location**: Newport (ABU Health Board)

The service aims to provide early intervention to its users and families living in the community, focusing on the direct needs of young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The post holder will work with their own caseload of 14 - 35 year olds experiencing a first episode of psychosis from within the counties of Gwent. They will provide recovery focussed early intervention support with a focus on clients’ social, emotional, and vocational recovery, in collaboration with and complimenting the clinical interventions provided by ABUHB EIP practitioners.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the provision of care and treatment to clients in a community setting, in line with the principles and practices of engagement, social inclusion and recovery.
- Support individuals through a tailored support programme with a view to move-on to community engagement and vocational opportunities.
- Leading group sessions.
- Encouraging and facilitating the use of local community services.
- Identifying the needs of individuals to enable them to maintain their health and wellbeing through engaging individuals in programmes such as Adventure Therapy / Outdoor activities / Physical Health promotion groups and social peer groups.
- Providing information, advice, and guidance.
- Assisting individuals in identifying areas of support and identifying the best option of support in line with their Care & treatment plan.
- Completion of individual support/recovery plans, exit plans and other documentation as required.

**Person Specification**:
The are no qualifications essential for this role though an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or similar) would provide evidence of competency and commitment to the field.

Must have experience of providing care and support services to people, including young people, families, and carers, with a serious mental illness

Must have experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, preferably within a clinical setting.

Must have a sound understanding of the social and emotional needs of young people, specifically those with serious mental illness, and the barriers/ challenges they may face.

Must have well developed inter-personal skills and the ability to relate to young people that have difficulties engaging due to the nature of their illness.

Must have a full UK Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
