- To support teaching and learning by helping to maintain consistency of supervision in the absence of the usual teaching member of staff
- To undertake other general administrative duties, as time allows

**Main responsibilities/duties**
- To carry out their role in accordance with the procedures and policies of Abbot’s Hill School, in particular:

- To manage behaviour and promote a positive working atmosphere within the classroom.
- To support teaching in the absence of a teacher by ensuring that all pupils understand instructions that have been left and to teach the work which has been left for lessons.
- To complete a class register.
- To collect cover work to be used in a lesson, organise pupils so that this work can be completed, mark work completed depending on requirement and then collect it in and return it safely in accordance with the procedures laid down in Abbot’s Hill School.
- To deal with emergencies according to policy.
- To recognise and respond to individual pupil needs.
- To provide feedback to the absent teacher on their return.
- To reward pupils according to procedure.
- To promote equal opportunities.
- To support the ethos and aims of the school.
- To ensure safety within the classroom.
- To help pupils access learning activities.
- To support the use of ICT in lessons and in particular be familiar with the use of Google Classroom (training will be provided).
- To undertake any administrative tasks as directed by the Director of Studies

**Additional requirements**
- To support activities within the School.
- To participate in duty rosters for break, lunch and prep duties.
- To attend School Open Days (Mornings/Afternoons), INSET days, Prize Giving and other major School events as required.

**General**

- To carry out all duties in accordance with Abbot’s Hill School’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation as appropriate.
- To comply with Abbot’s Hill School’s operating policies and procedures as issued from time to time.

**Knowledge and experience**
- A good all round education to A level standard at least and including GCSE English Language and Mathematics or equivalent.
- Previous experience of working with children.
- Experience of cover teaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Pro-active and highly organised.
- ICT literate with excellent administrative skills.
- Self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

**Hours**
- Up to 30 hours per week, as agreed with the Assistant Head, Pupil Progress
- Term Time only, plus School Open Days (Mornings/Afternoons), INSET days, Prize Giving and other major School events as required.

Part-time hours: 22.5 - 30 per week

**Salary**: Up to £30,000.00 per year
