- Museum CuratorThe Scott Polar Research Institute is looking for a Museum Curator to lead our Polar Museum.

The Polar Museum is part of the Scott Polar Research Institute, which was established in 1920 as a memorial to Captain Scott and his men. This Institute still undertakes world leading research in the polar sciences and humanities. As well as caring for collections relating to Captain Scott and other "heroic era" Antarctic explorers, the museum holds material from nineteenth century expeditions to the Arctic, historical and contemporary material culture and artworks from a wide range of Arctic communities, and scientific objects from Arctic and Antarctic research undertaken by the Institute in recent decades. The Institute also holds significant archive and photographic collections and is home to an extensive polar library.

The Museum Curator is responsible for the strategic leadership of all aspects of the Museum's work, including collections care, public engagement and exhibition development. Sitting on the Institute's Senior Management Group, the role holder has responsibility for ensuring the Museum plays a full role in the life of the Institute as well as maintains its position as a professional and audience-led public-facing museum.

Informal enquiries are welcomed and may be directed in the first instance to our Institute Administrator, Chloe Weston, who is administering the recruitment process for role and will direct your enquiry to an appropriate person. The current role holder, Charlotte Connelly, is also happy to receive enquires about the nature of the role.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
