The role of the Baker is key in the day to day running of the instore Bakery at Fiveways.

The Baker will work as part of a team to ensure that fresh goods are produced, and ensuring the smooth running of their department, work tasks, quality control etc

They are responsible for ensuring that Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times as they prepare pastries, cakes, breads, and other baked goods; Use a variety of machinery such as mixers etc.

Due to the nature of the role, bakers may be required to work long hours and weekends.

**Main duties and responsibilities**

**1. Core Duties**

**Bakery Duties**

1. To prepare ingredients and measure portions

2. To maintain and ensure the smooth running of the bakery area.

3. Produce all products according to recipe and method in metric. (Also pass on to your colleagues all new recipes and make them aware of any changes).

4. Ensure correct and fresh ingredients are used at all times

5. Using baking equipment and ensuring that all equipment is in sanitary order after use.(Ensure the cleaning sheet is completed)

6. Ensure that all products are fit for sale at all times.

7. To adapt in change of demand in product volume, you are responsible for any increases or decreases in products needed for selling in store.

8. To ensure all baking deadlines are met, prioritising the daily baking schedules.

9. Assist in Stock control activities

10. Ensure Products are consistent in taste and size at all times.

11. Ensure department area is left clean, tidy and organized at all times

12. Dispose of packaging according to rules and regulations

13. At the start and end of your shift make sure you make out a schedule of work for the next day and for the next person coming in, to ensure the smooth running of the department

14. At the end of your shift leave a list of the products required for the management team.

**Health and Safety**

15. Adhere to the standards of presentation required for the department, including ensuring your whites are clean and tidy etc

16. Maintain the overall cleanliness of your department, area of work and displays, carrying out daily cleaning duties and following a "clean as you go" approach, cleaning up any spillages and ensuring there are no obstacles on the shop floor

17. Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are effectively carried out and reporting any concerns to your Line Manager in the first instance including the reporting of accidents

18. To follow all aspects of food handling regulations including, labelling, product specifications, traceability, food hygiene and HACCP, trading standards requirements, fridge freezer temperature/maintenance etc.

19. Ensuring all fire exits and escape routes are kept free from obstruction.

**Line Manager Reporting**

20. Actively partaking in meetings as and when required

21. Attending required training and ensure a certificate of completion is forwarded to HR

22. Participation in appraisals and performance reviews to assess your overall performance, duties, training requirements and development.

**General**

23. Provide support to your co-workers and Work as part of a team with the other members of Fiveways staff

24. Being vigilant at all times and to help minimise stock loss.

25. Contribute to the continuing development of Fiveways Shop and Service Station

26. Contribute to the identification of your Departments objectives for the short, medium and long term.

27. Enter and exit work from front entrance

28. Clock in when entering work and out when leaving; Clock out for breaks as soon as you leave work station

29. Take appropriate time for breaks and ensure that you seek authorisation from your immediate supervisor to go on break

30. Demonstrate confidentiality at all times.

31. To undertake other such reasonable duties as shall from time to time be required by the company, within the competency of the post holder

**Job Types**: Permanent, Full-time

**Salary**: £8.00-£13.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
