**Responsibilities**
- Assess the driving of all prospective new employees, prior to job offer.
- Assess the competence of all new employees to ensure they are competent to operate the vehicle unsupervised following their initial induction training period.
- Provide periodic and targeted assessments of current driving staff to ensure they are safe and fuel-efficient drivers.
- Must be prepared to undertake driving duties during peak operating times.
- Observe and understand all safe systems of work, constantly observing drivers conducting themselves correctly in this regard; support compliance processes, procedure and ensuring a proactive approach to meet strict standards.
- Monitor the standard of driver’s pre-use inspections.
- Ensure the required professional ethos is established and maintained throughout the company’s driving operations.
- Ensure company policies, procedures and best practice are adhered to, including ensuring the fleet operates within the correct legal boundaries, with particular emphasis on pre-use checks, wheel security, driving standards and vehicle CCTV.
- Complete eyesight checks and fitness to work interviews.
- Deliver both individual and depot toolbox talks.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- C+E driving license
- Experience within a driver trainer role mandatory.
- Driver trainer qualification would be advantageous.
- At least five years heavy goods vehicle driving experience.
- Excellent communicator, with a unwaveringly positive attitude.
