**About The Role**

Job Summary

HESS Plants Machine Operators role will be to set up machine to produce world class paving products in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

- Understand production plan.
- Achieve production targets and achieve efficient cycle times.
- Using Tobermore Tablet to complete daily check/snag/ batching sheets accurately.
- Work as part of a team to produce high quality Products with world class Machinery.
- Carry out all required cleaning duties at the end of the shift.
- Carry out tasks as required and deemed within your competence by your Role Responsibilities:

- Set up Hess machine to manufacture world class products in a safe and efficient manner.
- Manufacture quality products to a high standard.
- Understand mix designs and run times.
- Be able to carry out mould changes successfully and efficiently.
- Carry out quality checks and record data.
- Identify and report maintenance issues.
- Problem solving in terms of maintenance / quality issues.
- Setup the machine to make the products as per the production plan;
- Setup the machine by using computer panels to get the right product mix and design.
- Successfully carry out a product /mould change
- Understanding and knowledge of Machine and each control operations and how to program settings
- Understanding and knowledge of conveyors.
- Inspect and Quality control Products to ensure they meet required standard and specification. Record the data.
- Carry out basic adjustments and routine maintenance on machine on completion of training and as deemed competent by supervisor / manager.
- Monitor the machine for any mechanical faults. Report maintenance issues
- Adhere to all Quality Standards within the Company.
- Complete check-sheets as required

Forklift responsibilities:

- Utilising a forklift to assist the Production line to remove Products from Production area to allocated area in the yard.
- Operate forklift truck as per training and adhere to Health and safety requirements when driving.
- Be fully aware of pedestrians and vehicles while operating fork lift truck.
- Adhere to speed limits throughout yard at all times.
- Building product stockpiles in correct yard location
- Work with Production team to agreed timescales.
- Carry out daily checks prior to use (e.g. oil / water / blow out filters) and complete forklift checklist.
- Report any Forklift faults to your Manager and Maintenance team. In event of a fault do not use fork lift truck.
- Observe and ensure you work to all safety requirements when driving company vehicles. (NB. Only trained and licensed operators may operate company vehicles)
- Quality control of products at the Production Line and also before and after forklift duties.

Health & Safety Requirements:

- Ensure that you compliant and follow all Company regulations with all aspects of health, safety and environmental.
- Ensure all work is completed to specified Quality, Safety and Environmental standards.
- Please ensure that suitable and sufficient PPE and RPE are being worn during your shift.
- Report all faults with safety equipment or tools being used immediately to your line supervisor/manager.
- Ensuring that you and others in your department are working safely.
- Report any Health and Safety concerns raised by you or your team to your Manager and Compliance team immediately.
- Report any accidents or near misses in your department.
- Ensure all machinery is correctly locked out and isolated as per Company procedures and all necessary props and locks are in place before cleaning/maintenance or even basic adjustments commences.
- Ensure understanding of safety gates/ emergency stops/ pull cords and use as per training guidelines.
- Once machinery is completely locked out - continue to follow Health & Safety procedures to ensure Machinery is compliant before Cleaning commences.
- Treat with care, attention and respect all items of Company property, e.g. protective clothing and equipment, machinery, tools and materials.
