**Job Summary**:
As the HSE Apprentice you will be trained in and involved in ensuring compliance with all Company HSE procedures, policies, legislation, management of HSE systems, reporting and the maintenance of HSE documentation and data.

Attending College on a remote basis, and mentored by the HSE Manager on site, you will gain and develop key skills, working towards the Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Safety, Health and Environment Technician over two years.

**Responsibilities**:
Duties will include but not be limited to:

- Support the HSE Manager and the operational team in delivery of the health and safety plan through the effective administration of management processes and systems.
- Support the Health and Safety team’s initiatives and duties.
- Create analytical reports of safety data.
- Support both internal and external audits alongside the HSE Manager and HSE Assistant and record the results.
- Investigate accidents, near misses and any incidents, with the support of the HSE team, establishing root cause.
- Assist with the management of accident and incidents records, ensuring management of timely closure of investigations and actions.
- Undertake risk assessments as required, while proactively following up on control measures until complete.
- Support development and issue of HSE communications such as campaign information, posters, briefings and noticeboard material.
- Assist with carrying out regular Gemba walks across the site.
- Assist the HSE team to write and approve Risk Assessments using the Risk Assessment software.
- Assist the HSE team with promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested.

**Essential Criteria**:

- 5 GCSE’s (grade 4-5 or above) in Science, Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
- Ability to work well within a team whilst having the confidence to work on own initiative.
- Ability to focus on learning new skills and prepared to undertake learning on a daily basis.
- Ability to build rapport and effective relationships with a wide variety of people.
- Enthusiasm, drive and commitment to a career within Engineering.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive can-do attitude and work calmly under pressure.
- Ability to maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude at all times.
- Committed to work to deadlines and determined to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion.
- PC literate.
- Flexible approach to work in both time and priority.
