We are now recruiting for an EHS Advisor to join us permanently.

As the EHS Advisor you will support the EHS Manager and project delivery teams ensuring that they operate in accordance with Amentum’s and our clients health, safety and environmental requirements; and in particular for ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

**Specific responsibilities include**:
Support the development of the Project HSE Management Plans

plan, manage, monitor and coordinate HSE during design, procurement, equipment installation & commissioning, pre-construction, construction & demolition works

take account of the health and safety risks to everyone affected by the work in planning and managing the measures needed to control them

liaise with EHS Manager and client CDM duty holders and stakeholders as appropriate, to ensure that all risks are effectively managed

Sprepare and implement a written Construction/Demolition Phase Plan before work begins, regularly review and revise as required to ensure compliance

help ensure that there are arrangements in place for managing health and safety throughout the programme/projects

plan and support senior management project review / walk downs

consult and engage with workers about their health, safety and welfare

ensure suitable welfare facilities are provided from the start and maintained throughout

ensure appointed all persons has the skills, knowledge, experience and, where relevant, the organisational capability to carry out their work safely and without risk to health

ensure all workers have site and project specific inductions, and any further information and training they need

ensure that there are measures in place to prevent unauthorised access to work sites

liaise with the client, principal designer and relevant stakeholders to share any information relevant to the planning, management, monitoring and coordination of the work

checking that the client is aware of its duties

inspection and auditing of work locations, contracts and the supply chain

actively promoting improvements in attitudes and behaviours towards construction and HSE performance

carry out incident investigations and prepare reports that detail root causes, corrections and corrective actions

utilise the company’s incident reporting tool - IndustrySafe and Client ITRAC system

assisting, when required, in the preparation of risk assessments and method statements in conjunction with operational management and sub-contractors

review and appraise, when required, risk assessments, method statements and related safety control documentation

deliver construction/demolition HSE briefings and training presentations

lead HSE meetings as necessary

foster good collaborative relations with all stakeholders

liaise with management and enforcing authorities on HSE compliance issues and the notification of accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences.

develop and implement HSE objectives/KPIs in line with Programme and Project requirements

Ensuring that programme/project teams are kept update on relevant HSE legislation.

Maintenance of programme/project HSE risk and compliance registers.

Monitoring and supporting the implementation of Amentums’s HSE policies, procedures and instructions.

**Experience**:
Relevant engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications.

NEBOSH Certificate or higher

Experience of working in the Defence or Nuclear Sectors an advantage

Trained and/or qualified in HSE auditing

Good knowledge of waste management legal requirements relevant to Construction/Demolition

It would be highly beneficial if the person had environmental credentials and experience

Proven 5 years’ experience of working in a highly regulated industry

Construction site experience in a key role

Experience of preparing Construction Plans under CDM

Experience of HSE management at the design stage and of supply chain activities.

Knowledge of ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 or ISO45001 management systems

Meets requirements for SC security clearance including residence in the UK for at least the last 5 years. Able to meet DV clearance.

Proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point

Experience of auditing
