We are looking to recruit a full time, permanent Advanced Practitioner based at University Hospital Wishaw within the Hospital Emergency Care Team (HECT) department.

**Please note**: The postholder must have the ability to work rotational duties and flexible working hours.

**JOB PURPOSE**

The Advanced Practitioners will:

- work autonomously across Primary, Community and Acute Services during the in and out of hours period, covering seven days including public holidays. They will be responsible for the clinical decision making for the population including assessment and treatment of patients in across the Primary, Community and Acute settings.
- work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT)/medical staff including the OOH Hub and Acute Services. Communicate on a daily basis about any patient they have seen overnight/ at weekend and who needs to be followed up by the GP / Acute Services during normal working hours
- provide assessment, clinical care and management of both stable and acutely unwell patient and his/her family, making complex, autonomous decisions using advanced skills and knowledge, having overall responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the delivery of advanced care. Medical telehealth/telephone support will be available when required from an identified source.

**Additional Information Specific to the Role**
- Carry out advanced and comprehensive physical examination for hospital inpatients, identifying those who are acutely ill and facilitating early intervention
- Carry out Non-Medical Prescribing in accordance with NMC and NMP guidelines
- Support decisions to commence, administer and evaluate treatment pathways including Hi Flo Nasal O2, CPAP and NIV
- Ensure that optimal out of hours emergency patient care is maintained and is safe and effective through continuous service evaluation
- Request radiological investigations for patients and can rationalise reason for requests.
- Provides support and advice to patients and their carers relating to clinical interventions
- Conduct advanced analysis and interpretation of physiological data including laboratory results, ECG interpretation and radiological investigations.
- Provide Advanced Life Support at medical emergencies and cardiorespiratory arrests
- Ensure record keeping, including electronic data capture, is timely and accurate ensuring patient confidentiality is compliant with NMC guidelines.
- Will continuously evaluate advanced interventions and complex treatment modalities for the critically ill patient within the hospital environment
