We are looking for people who are driven, motivated and confidence in communicating with others.
**We have two posts available**: One post will be based on Brant ward, our 18 bedded acute assessment ward for older adults experiencing complex mental health problems.
The second post will be assigned to work across both of our inpatient wards, Brant ward and Langworth ward. Langworth ward is an 18 bedded ward specialising in patients living with dementia.
The role of Therapy Assistant will provide effective evidence-based therapeutic interventions for older people referred to inpatient services under the direction of qualified Allied Health Professionals.
Therapy Assistants will work in close collaboration with AHPs and the wider multidisciplinary team, delivering therapy care plans that maintain and improve skills in activities of daily living, support communication and promote independence and choice at all times. Therapy Assistants will assist in organising and delivering individual and group clinical programmes as agreed with supervising AHPs in line with clinical governance and professional standards.

Deliver therapeutic activity programmes to meet defined clinical outcomes

Assessing and providing interventions to patients under the supervision of a qualified Allied Health Professional i.e., Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Dietitian

To be involved in interventions to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of therapy and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.

To contribute to the assessment of a patient’s understanding of treatment proposals, and work within the legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent.

Be prepared to work alone within scope of role and have their own caseload of patients with non-complex needs previously seen by a registered AHP.

To support other staff and students as appropriate.

To respond positively to organisational change and be flexible with work practices depending on need.

Support the provision of a flexible 7-day-a-week service if service requires this working both inpatient and in community settings.
