**Background**:
The Property and Facilities Department is responsible for acquiring, maintaining and disposing of property on behalf of the University. The maintenance team operate within the department to maintain M&E equipment and services, The team are tasked with planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all systems across the University estate.

**Responsibilities**:
The Mechanical Maintenance Tradesperson shall work within the maintenance team reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager. This tradesperson must be technically qualified in a mechanical discipline.

You will carry out mechanical maintenance both planned and re-active on a range of equipment including, AHU, piped and ducted systems, pumps, pressurisation units, valves, heating and domestic water systems.

You will also respond to critical plant breakdowns and undertake remedial actions in the field. As well as completing and recording planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and carrying out routine inspections of plant during each shift.

There is also a requirement to cover a call out response which is shared equally among the team.

It is desirable that the post holder will have both practical and theoretical knowledge of L8.

**Person Specification**:
Technical or secondary education to GCSE or equivalent standards with passes in Mathematics, Physics and English.

Appropriate City and Guilds and/or a Mechanical craft apprenticeship.

Must be able to demonstrate a range of M&E skills and experience.

Relevant experience as a heating and ventilation fitter, building services or equivalent role working on the mechanical services installations within buildings on a large estate.

Good knowledge of health and safety appertaining to working/maintaining occupied buildings

IPAF/PASMA or equivalent training is desirable.
