Role Title: Unix Engineer

Location: Glasgow or Remote

Duration: 7 Months

Role Description:
Technology Skills
- Hands-on experience of tools and technology; this may include:

- Proactively maintain and develop all IBM AIX infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service.
- Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
- Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments.
- Fault finding, analysis and logging information for reporting of performance exceptions.
- Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning.
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware.
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
- Good working knowledge of tools; this should include:

- Knowledge of IBM AIX is essential.
- HP UX and Solaris as well as Linux is an advantage.
- Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts.
- Experience of Clustering, Docker or Kubernetes an advantage.
- Experience of Shell, Python and Ansible scripting an advantage.
- Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage.
- Experience across the multiple aspects of
- Solid testing experience in a project delivery / software development environment.
- Broad technical knowledge and experience:

- Provide specialist advice and recommend approaches across teams and various stakeholders.
- Communicate widely with other stakeholders.
- Help review other people?s work.
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams using Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and structuring your work into sprints.
- Previous experience using tools such as Jira.
- An understanding of the software development lifecycle.
