Building Inspector

JOB DETAILS

A national structural warranty provider seeks a Building Inspector of new-build traditional housing and low-rise flats in the vicinity of Ruislip. Basic salary circa £45,000 - £55,000, bonus, enhanced pension, healthcare, vehicle and fuel allowance, targeted CABE membership support, with the opportunity for career development.

The role is applicable to construction professionals with an understanding of NHBC / similar standards in their capacity as a Building Surveyor, Site Manager or Clerk of Works.

Building Inspector responsibilities
- Inspect construction or conversion of properties to ensure construction professionals adhere to Building Regulations and warranty criteria wherever possible to mitigate against future claims
- Provide quality assessments, report on defects, structural faults and recommendations to clients via onsite report generation
- Schedule own workload and ensure maximum efficiency during site visits
- Record inspections and relay findings to customers as required
- Maintain an open dialogue with peers and management to ensure standards are consistently upheld
- Advise the underwriting team on technical queries
- Balance insurer and client expectations

Building Inspector requirements
- Residential development experience from foundation to completion
- Qualified to degree/ NVQ Level 6 and above
- RICS/CABE/CIOB membership preferred
- Awareness of construction standards in the context of Building Regulations and/or structural warranty technical manuals
- Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
- Full UK driving license
