Handwork Operatives

Gomer Press is an established family owned business in rural Wales, working with many of the most prestigious publishers in the UK to produce beautiful books.

We have an opening in our Handwork department for an operative to undertake manual tasks related to the final stages of book production, for example fitting book jackets. This will include delicate and intricate work and requires a steady hand and an eye for detail. There will be some lifting required to stack and pack books into boxes and then onto a pallet.

No experience is necessary as full training will be given. The ability to work with care and attention on repetitive tasks is essential.

Working hours will be by mutual agreement week-by-week, with full 37.5 hour weeks often available as the company experiences high demand for its products. The role is intended to be ongoing, not short term, and has the potential to lead to permanent full time employment in the bindery, with further training and career progression.

Working hours in the bindery are 8am-4pm Monday to Friday, so there is no requirement to work evenings or weekends.
