ARC NWL receives £2 million per anum from NIHR and a further £680k per anum in additional research and improvement grants. The ARC team requires a Project Officer to support the work of the Assistant Director and Programme Manager to effectively deliver the core programme and the additional funded projects. The postholder portfolio will support the:
The production of the NIHR ARC NWL annual report
Supporting the internal finance function of ARC NWL
The post holder will provide support to a variety of programme team members. They will work supervised and unsupervised, prioritizing work on a daily basis according to needs and priorities of the programme and have the ability to communicate routine yet complex project information, status and updates. They will plan and organize meeting, conferences and events internal and external to the ARC programme.
There will be opportunities for the post holder to shadow the Assistant Director at high level meetings giving them keep experience of working in a complex and political environments where there are many competing priorities which need to be delivered.
This position would be ideal for a highly motivated individual who has ‘a can do’ attitude and has an agile mind set.

2.0 Duties and responsibilities
2.1 To negotiate with NIHR ARC project teams, and work as an enabler to support project teams to undertake specific ARC activities. Project teams include mutli-disciplinary teams and senior clinicians. These activities the post holder will undertake with the project teams could include:
enabling a stronger role for Patient Public Involvement (PPI) within the project,.
2.2 The post-holder will need to work with project teams to persuade, influence and troubleshoot with the project teams in difficult situations, and be capable of dealing professionally with conflict and resistance to change. Escalating project related issue with the Programme Manager
2.4 To lead and develop (with support and supervision) ad hoc projects and other development opportunities in line with the post holder’s own interests & expertise and to be able to project manage these projects and developments.
2.5. To work with the Collaborative Leadership Delivery (CLD) Lead and Patient Public Involvement (PPI) lead to deliver CLD and PPI Events. This will include project managing logistics for events, liaising with high profile speakers and delegate management. These events can be for up to 150 people. The role includes supporting the events on the day they are held and being able to pay attention to detail throughout the entire planning phase to ensure all events are a success.
2.6 To be proactive in progressing personal development, making best use of time on the Programme.
2.7 To assist in managing the NIHR ARC for Northwest London programme’s general diary amongst team members and the director, arrange meetings, (most complex across numerous partnering organisation involving up 30 people) ), take minutes at meetings when necessary and produce action notes, (transferred into project management databases) or formal minutes within agreed timescales and within existing templates.
2.8 To assist the NIHR ARC for Northwest London project team in preparing papers, submissions and agendas for meetings with both internal and external agencies and partnering organizations when required.
2.10 Demonstrate the flexibility and initiative necessary to cope with rapid, unforeseen changes in plans and demands, this being an inherent element of working with a large project in a dynamic environment.
2.11 Demonstrate the ability to plan ahead and anticipate the requirements of the NIHR ARC for Northwest London project over a wide range of activities.
2.12 Be responsible for sharing information in line with the NIHR ARC for Northwest London programme. To provide and receive complex information, to communicate information about the project in response to a constantly changing landscape.
2.13 Be responsible for policies and protocols for their own developed projects and work areas.
2.15 The post holder will be an authorized signatory in relation to small payments required to restock general supplies for the ARC office and will administer a small project budget. The post holder will also monitor logistic budgets for events that the ARC team deliver.
2.16 Be aware of financial policies and procedures and act in accordance with them at all times.
