We are seeking Maintenance Person to join our Residential Care Home in Salford.

**Salary**: £10.50ph

**Hours**: 20 to 25 hours per week, over 5 days

As a Maintenance person you will carry out periodical Health & Safety checks as per the companies policies and procedures and to maintain the building(s), grounds, furniture and equipment so that the home is maintained in a clean, safe and efficient functional order.

Your suitability for this role:

- Experience in simple and more complex DIY style maintenance and repairs
- Experience of gardening / grounds maintenance
- Clear understanding of Health and Safety
- The ability to complete and maintain written records as per the company’s policies and procedures
- Experience dealing with contractors and suppliers
- The ability to work flexibly in an environment where daily tasks and routines may vary
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines and within defined quality standards
- You must be organised, self-motivated, with the ability to work with mínimal supervision

Main responsibilities include:

- Carry out minor maintenance and repair work to buildings, furniture, fixtures and fittings and equipment.
- Complete all weekly, monthly, and periodic Health & Safety checks and document in the appropriate record books within the home.
- To carry out weekly, monthly, and periodic checks of the fire alarm system, and log results, Check call points, fire exits, door retaining devices and emergency lights, as specified in the company’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain a ‘Maintenance Book’ in which defects are recorded by Staff Members. Use this book to effect repairs and replacements daily.
- Maintain the grounds and gardens including fences, garden furniture, grass, shrubs, plantsetc.
- Clear snow, and grit any driveways, paths, external fire escapes and any external area which residents, visitors and staff members haveaccess.
- Ensure that all out buildings and sheds are secured after use and at the end of each workingday.
- Be ‘On Call’ for advice and or action in any emergencies which may arise out of hours to include weekends and bank holidays.
- To attend all mandatory training days, on or off site as and when required.
- Report immediately to the Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident that has occurred.
- Ensure the security of the care home you are working in is maintained at all times.
- Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
- Inform the Home Manager or person in charge of any visit or pending visit to the home by an external contractor or maintenance staff when advised. Record the contractors visit in the appropriate manner.
- Promote and ensure the good reputation of the home and the Company.
