Janitor

**Job Description**:
Pertemps are recruiting a Janitor for our client in East Lothian, to play a vital role in maintaining school's premises and ensuring a safe and secure environment for students and staff.
Working 32 hours per week at an hourly rate of £15.86, Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.00pm, you'll work under the instruction and guidance of the Head Janitor, providing porterage, maintenance, waste management, and security services.
Your mission is to uphold the security of the site and carry out a range of responsibilities, including:

- Locking and unlocking school buildings and areas- Holding keys on a multi-site basis- Setting and unsetting security systems- Conducting regular security checks and identifying risks- Monitoring fire safety equipment and assisting in fire drills- Operating and responding to alarm systems when needed- Liaising with contractors- Providing emergency access to the school site- Undertaking minor repairs, redecorating, and fixing- Organizing and performing maintenance duties as per schedule- Carrying out minor decoration and improvement works- Monitoring the BMS system and reporting issues- Participating in preventative maintenance and routine inspections- Checking heating plant and lighting systems- Identifying and recording repair and maintenance requirements- Removing waste to the central collection point- Assisting in the administration of logbooks- Undertaking emergency cleaning tasks and external cleaning duties- Fulfilling on-call duties as required- Performing evening let duties when needed- Monitoring contractor performance and conducting inductions- Liaising with contractors and managing premises-related contracts- Assisting in safety audits and contributing to risk assessment- Supporting the Site Technician as necessaryTo be successful in this role, you should have:

- Janitorial/site-keeping or trade experience in a similar environment- Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English)- Willingness to develop knowledge of ICT and specialist equipment/resources- Working knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice, and legislation- Ability to work independently without direct supervision- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to children and adults- Knowledge of health and safety procedures and COSHH regulationsIn return, we offer a challenging and dynamic work environment within a forward-thinking organization.
