**Temporary Building Control Officer x 3 - Regulatory Services**
**Reference no: Trafford 0007 569F / 1**
**Pay Rate: £17.34 per hour PAYE**
**This opening assignment is for 6-7 months**
**Hybrid working**
**2 full time and one part time vacancies available within the Building Control team**
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Carry out site inspections to ensure compliance of building works with the Building Regulations and other legislations and produce and maintain accurate relevant records.
- Produce and present reports as and when required by the Head of the Regulatory Services, Building Control Manager, and Principal Building Control Officer.
- Undertake enforcement action in accordance with the Council’s enforcement policies, including the serving of notices, preparation of evidence in prosecution cases, court appearances, and liaise with Legal Services as required.
- Assist the Building Control Manager and Principal Building Control Officer in specifically promoting and marketing the Building Control Service and the services provided by Local Authority Building Control.
- Liaise with and assist other enforcing bodies and services with their enforcement duties, e.g. Planning Enforcement, Environmental Health, Licensing, Fire Service.
- Ensure that the performance standards and targets as set out by the management are achieved.
- Represent the Service at multi-agency groups.
- Liaise with other professional staff and bodies to actively promote and market Local Authority Building Control.
- Assist the Building Control Manager and Principal Building Control Officer in specifically promoting and marketing the Building Control Service and the services provided by Local Authority Building Control.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification.
- Evidence of continuing relevant professional development.

**Experience & Knowledge**:

- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Experience of collating and maintaining accurate comprehensive records of site inspections, meetings, workshops, etc.
- Experience of working with public and private sector bodies, investors, developers and other stakeholders.
- Proactive and innovative approach working with partners and securing positive outcome.
- Detailed understanding of building construction and Building Control associated regulations/legislation.
- Knowledge of IT systems used within the Building Control environment.
- Knowledge of financial and performance management.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Ability to establish strong working relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
- Ability to analyse and interpret key data and formulate solutions.
- Ability to write accurate and timely reports and other information tailored to audience.
- Ability to influence and negotiate successfully with a wide range of stakeholders using diplomacy, tact, conflict resolution skills and the ability persuade and negotiate effectively with a positive outcome.
- The ability to prioritise and manage workload over extended periods, producing quality work and meeting deadlines.
- Analytical skills.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
