The Children’s Physiotherapy service for Hackney and The City is an innovative and supportive team offering high quality services to our diverse East London community and beyond.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapy assistant to join our friendly team of Physiotherapists all committed to working towards supporting children with disabilities and their families to help them realise their potential so they can participate and play in their own environment.

The post holder will work closely with children, families, and other allied health professionals to support the team to achieves its broader aims and ensure that our service remains evidence-based, high quality and child/family focused.

The workload may include working in clinics, homes, mainstream school, special school and will involve travelling to different bases in the community. The post holder will also carry out administrative duties to support the service.

The postholder will work under the guidance from a registered Physiotherapist and will be supported to meet their competencies within their role. This may include running groups, clinics, or carrying out sessions with children / young person in a variety of settings. Administrative duties include setting up clinics, ordering new equipment, processing new referrals, organising resources and collating parent feedback

The postholder will also liaise with other members of staff and other allied healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the children and families that access Hackney Ark.

This role will suit individuals with strong verbal and written communication skills who are self motivated, organised, flexible and have an interest in the work that Hackney Ark Physiotherapists do. Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment would be an advantage also..

The post holder will manage both clinical and admin duties. Administrative duties will include setting up clinics, ordering equipment, sending appointment letters, assisting on clinical audit, obtaining patient feedback and preparation work for clinical groups and courses held at the Hackney Ark.

Clinical duties will include helping to run groups, Independently managing and treating a caseload of children with guidance from a registered Physiotherapist. The post holder will develop and implement treatment programmes, independently writing reports and records as required in discussion with a Registered Physiotherapist. The post holder will use their initiative and clinical experience to adapt treatment programs where necessary to improve patient treatment, in response to changes in the child’s physical / motor skill, environment, school requirements or parental expectations. The post holder will carry out required treatment packages in the setting most appropriate to the child’s needs whether this is at home, mainstream/ special school, Hackney Ark and also at home.
