**Job Title**: Supervisor
**Department**: Urbaser Limited, Tunbridge Wells, South West Kent
**Reporting to**: Assistant Service Delivery Manager
**Salary**:£39,666.48 p/a
**Hours**: 40.00 hours - 05:00am - 5.30pm - Shift Work
**Saturday/Sunday**: 1 in 3 weekends & Bank Holidays

**Primary role**: To assist in the management and development of the street cleansing service and the refuse & recycling collection service, garden collection and clinical waste collection in line with the client service deliver standards

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To lead the team in the achievement of the Client’s key purposes and in the continuous improvement of its performance.
- To ensure that all vehicles (including plant & machinery), sites, facilities are maintained in a safe, secure, clean and orderly fashion, and to report any defects and deviations from appropriate standards.
- Ensure that all staff, especially drivers are fully aware of Urbaser’s Fleet Policy paying particular attention to the Defect Reporting procedure
- Supervise the delivery of the Street cleansing service on the contract so that high delivery standards are always maintained.
- Be responsible for the provision and continuous improvement of designated services. Plan and prioritise the work of the Team.
- Be responsible for Health and Safety within the Team
- Provide advice as required on matters related to own knowledge and experience. Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, including drafting reports and dealing with correspondence.
- To undertake risk assessments when required
- To Undertake staff appraisals and Performance management Interviews
- To understand and comply with Urbaser Ltd.’s Equal Opportunities Policy

- Assist in the selection and recruitment of staff in accordance with Urbaser Ltd.’s recruitment policy & procedures and ensure that all staff receive suitable training.
- Assist in resolving any employee relation issues such as disciplinary, grievances issues according to Company policies
- Assist in the processing of all paperwork, such as incident reports, insurance claims, Purchase orders, invoices, charges and arrange for the collation and recording of all facts and figures for management information.
- To ensure that all sites and amenities are opened and closed at appropriate times
- Communicating in a clear sense of purpose and direction in order to motivate and develop staff
- Maintain good working relationships with key partners, service providers, stake holders and the wider community.
- Promote equality of opportunity and recognition of social and cultural diversity, in the delivery of services and in supervisory practice.

**Key Tasks**:

- Deployment of staff;
- Completion of daily works;
- Daily inspection of services;
- Daily Visits of all teams managed;
- Daily review of service with Contract Manager;
- Use of ICT System
- Monitoring and review stock and fuel consumption.
- Proactive continuous review of areas cleansed, including performance levels in line with Code of Practice for Litter and Refuse, and frequencies of cleansing occurrences.

**Essential Characteristics**
- Good timekeeping.
- Ability to accommodate flexible working.
- Good customer service skills.
- Good communication skills including written word.
- Able to work in adverse weather conditions.
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Hold a valid clean UK driving licence, in the relevant category.
- Successful completion of an in-house driver assessment process that includes knowledge of the equipment and how it operates.
- The ability to inspect vehicles and recognise defects.
- The ability to understand waste management (in particular what is not required);
- Demonstrate acceptable recent eye examination.
- Demonstrate acceptable levels of physical fitness.
- Good organisational skills.
- Good leadership skills.
- Previous experience of working with or managing a team.
- Previous experience of Street Sweeping and Refuse Collection.
- Previous experience of in cab technology (Whitespace or similar)

**Desirable Characteristics**
- Basic computer skills.
- LGV Licence
- Digital Tacho Card
- Valid CPC Card
- Must be willing to assist on Refuse/Recycling

The duties and responsibilities highlighted are indicative and may vary over time. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and extent of the post and the grade that has been established on this basis.
