Job Title: Care Home Cook/Chef

**Position Overview**:
**Responsibilities**:

- **Menu Planning and Development**:

- Collaborate with management to create diverse and nutritionally balanced menus that cater to the specific dietary needs and preferences of residents.
- Stay updated on nutritional guidelines, ensuring meals meet the required standards for a care home setting.
- **Food Preparation**:

- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, taking into account the dietary restrictions and individual needs of residents.
- Ensure that all food preparation complies with health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
- **Quality Control**:

- Conduct regular quality checks on ingredients and finished dishes to maintain high standards of taste, presentation, and nutritional value.
- Address any concerns or feedback from residents regarding the quality of meals and make necessary adjustments.
- **Kitchen Management**:

- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
- **Adherence to Dietary Requirements**:

- Monitor and accommodate residents' special dietary needs, including allergies and therapeutic diets, ensuring all meals align with prescribed guidelines.
- **Hygiene and Safety**:

- Implement and enforce strict hygiene and safety protocols in the kitchen, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices.
- Conduct regular training sessions for kitchen staff on hygiene and safety procedures.
- **Team Collaboration**:

- Work closely with other kitchen staff, care home personnel, and management to create a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Foster effective communication and teamwork within the kitchen and with other departments.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a Cook or Chef, preferably in a care home or similar setting.
- Knowledge of nutrition, dietary restrictions, and therapeutic diets.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications.

**Working Conditions**:

- Full-time position with the possibility of flexible hours.
- Fast-paced kitchen environment within a care home setting.
- May require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract

**Salary**: From £17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
