**Introduction**:
Saltford Golf Club is a long-established and reputable golf club located between the cities of Bristol and Bath. The golf club is home to an excellent 18 hole parkland course, a 6 hole academy course and a 9 bay floodlit driving range. We currently have a vacancy for an Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our highly motivated team.
You will be expected to work 40 hours per week, including weekend work from time to time.
**Overview**:
The Apprentice will work alongside the Course Manager and other members of the team in ensuring that the Golf Course is maintained to the highest standard with regard to presentation and safety. As an Apprentice Greenkeeper this is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain hands-on greenkeeping experience whilst working towards your qualification.
Supported and guided by the Course Manager and senior staff, training will include: routine maintenance, cutting greens/tees/fairways, maintaining equipment, Health and Safety and more.

A Golf Greenkeeper is responsible for the maintenance, care and overall appearance of a golf course in line with employer’s requirements.
It is their job to maintain a good quality playing surface and ensure the course offers a consistent challenge and an enjoyable experience for golfers.
There are four key turf grass areas on a golf course - greens, tees, fairways and areas of rough, each of which requires a different type of maintenance. Using a range of equipment and machinery safely and competently will play a major part within an apprentices training programme.
Golf Greenkeepers will also be involved in hazard, environmental and ecological operations which may include bunker maintenance, laying turf, trees, shrubs and developing wildlife habitats. The skills required to become a competent Greenkeeper will be acquired whilst working on the golf course.
Main duties of the role will include:
Maintaining bunkers
Working on all types of mowing equipment
Changing holes
Strimming
The use of aeration equipment
Course set up
Machinery maintenance
Mark course areas
Fertilising
Tournament preparation
Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines
**Job Types**: Full-time, Apprenticeship
**Salary**: £6.00-£7.50 per hour
