This role will be office based and working in a small and friendly team, and will be great for an ambitious and versatile individual who is looking for their next challenge.

**Role**

We are looking for a payroll assistant to work between 30 and full-time hours each week. Over half of the full-time role would be spent preparing payrolls for a broad range of clients.

**Qualifications and Systems Experience**:

- Earnie (IRIS) payroll experience preferred
- Knowledge of cloud accounting packages especially Xero, Quickbooks, Sage L50, IRIS (ideally)
- Good knowledge of Outlook/Microsoft packages especially excel and word
- IT literate
- AAT or Payroll qualifications required but not essential

**Relevant Experience**:

- Minimum of two years payroll experience
- Intermediate level in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Payroll
- Experienced payroll clerk having been responsible for a number of large payrolls, 20 plus staff and looked after all aspects including SSP, SMP, CIS and auto enrolment filing
- Experience in setting up new payroll schemes, CIS and auto enrolment schemes with the relevant authorities and running year end payroll
- Accounts
- Basic double entry and accounts preparation
- Preparation of statutory and annual accounts from records supplied by the client
- Good level of practical experience gained in public practice (ideally)

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
Payroll
- Process companies’ payroll every pay period (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually) - ensuring all submissions are processed in accordance to HMRC’s Real Time Information
- Making sure each company receives payroll summaries, payslips, P45s, P60s where needed and as agreed
- Accurately calculating the right amounts of pay, deductions, overtime and bonuses
- Managing year end processes and associated returns
- Setting up Auto-Enrolment schemes for clients and ensuring the right amount of pension contributions are deducted
- Subcontractor monthly returns
- Verifying subcontractor status
- Preparation of monthly subcontractor statements
- Maintenance of full CIS records

Accounts
- Preparation of statutory and annual accounts from records supplied by the client
- Understanding of key control account postings and reconciliations/treatments around income, fixed assets, payroll, accruals and prepayments
- Prepare the year end accounting files and ensure they are complete, with back up schedules to support balance sheet figures
- Maintain and build relationships with clients and ensure that all communications are conducted in a professional manner

- Auditing Clients’ payrolls

**Analytical and Judgemental Skills**:

- To handle payroll enquiries on a day to day basis and know when to escalate the problem to your line manager to ensure they are kept fully up to date

**Communication Skills**:

- To speak with confidence in all client handling situations and when liaising with our clients’ suppliers and clients

**Personal Qualities**:

- Be capable of working in a busy office environment and handling various telephone queries on a daily basis
- Work independently
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional accuracy and reliable
- To demonstrate utmost integrity and confidentiality, self motivation and tact

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: £27,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
