**What you need to know about the role**

Join us in driving British Steel's transition to low-carbon steel production As a key member of our team, you'll collaborate across departments to reduce carbon emissions in alignment with our business plan. You'll serve as the primary liaison for engaging with customers and stakeholders, providing expert guidance on science, policies, and technologies for achieving net-zero emissions. Your role will involve fostering awareness of our Low-Carbon Roadmap through regular interactions and delivering crucial sustainability metrics to external stakeholders. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a tangible impact on large-scale decarbonisation efforts in the industrial sector.

You'll play a pivotal role in:

- Supporting our decarbonisation strategy by engaging with key stakeholders to raise awareness of our low-carbon plans.
- Maintaining and providing sustainability metrics, including carbon footprint data, Environmental Product Declarations, and GHG emissions reports.
- Ensuring compliance with our Science Based Target and mapping supply chain emissions.
- Providing expertise on decarbonisation science, policies, and technologies.
- Developing evidence-based guidance and communication materials and executing related projects.
- Collaborating with the marketing team to create a brand for our low-carbon offerings.
- Assisting with CBAM implementation and future policy scoping.
- Staying informed about decarbonisation trends, policy initiatives, and competitor developments.
- Representing British Steel at industry events, webinars, and conferences.

**What we need to know about you**
- Experience in sustainability roles
- Degree education in environmental, sustainability, engineering or similar discipline
- Knowledge of emission calculation / benchmarking / modelling for net zero strategy
- Knowledge of circular economy and social value
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- High level of creativity, engagement and motivation
- Ability to manage priorities under pressing timescales
- Senior level experience of governing and prioritising activities
- Ability to adapt and lead through changing environment
- Valid driving licence for UK business trip
- Steel knowledge / structural engineer is desirable but not essential
