Bond, the UK network for organisations working in international development, is looking for an exceptional individual to lead our policy and advocacy work. We work to influence government and policy makers, with and on behalf of members, to secure a policyenvironment that supports the eradication of poverty and injustice globally.

This is a really exciting role at a pivotal time for the international development sector. ?A challenging political environment, the need to transform as a sector, challenges to public support for aid and key international moments mean that we need to actcollectively with our members to protect progress and shape the future. Bond is uniquely placed to provide a strong voice for the sector - working with, and challenging government and policy makers, and representing UK CSOs at key international fora. Throughpolicy research, advocacy and public affairs we enable civil society organisations to be heard, deliver the changes needed for a positive way forward and ensure that international development is an integral part of the national conversation.

We are looking for someone with extensive policy and advocacy experience who can work collaboratively with members and others in the sector to ensure that the sector is able to focus on its mission. You will need great understanding of the policy frameworksand political landscape for international development; in depth knowledge in key areas like aid effectiveness, SDGs and excellent relationship and influencing skills. ?You will be a great communicator with good political judgement and media savvy. You willbe a strategic thinker who can build on what works and explores new ways of doing things, including the need to rethink development and decolonalise our approach. ?The ability to bring members together to develop approaches collectively is critical. You willalso be a strong leader who can lead and manage a dynamic team and provide direction and inspiration for the whole organisation.

**Purpose of the role**

The Director of Policy and Advocacy leads Bond’s work **to shape policy and UK politics to support a just and sustainable future for the world’s marginalised communities.**

This involves leading a strategy, and a dynamic team, working to influence UK government and policy makers, with and on behalf of members, to secure a policy framework that supports the eradication of poverty and injustice globally. Through policy research,advocacy and public affairs we enable civil society organisations to respond to the current agenda, to be propositional and deliver the change needed and ensure that international development is an integral part of the national conversation.

The Director is a key member of the Bond leadership team providing direction and inspiration for the whole organisation.
