Clerk to Governors

Bassett Green is a large, diverse and inclusive Primary School. We are seeking a Governance Professional to provide administrative support to our Governing Board and Chair of Governors. This role is fundamental in helping the Governors carry out their responsibilities and to play their part in supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in the drive to ensure that all pupils receive the best possible education and experience at Bassett Green.

The main responsibilities of the role include providing advice, support and guidance to the Governing Board and effective organisation and administration of Board and Committee meetings. You will need to be able to support and build a strong working relationship with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher

It is essential that you have excellent, communication, literacy and ICT skills that will enable you to facilitate meetings and produce accurate minutes within set timescales. The role will involve a mix of attending governors meetings either in school or virtually, but mostly working from home so you will need to be reliable, self-motivated, well organised and have meticulous attention to detail.

You will need to have a flexible approach to working hours is required to be available at times of Full Governing Board (FGB) meetings (currently 6 per year 5.00-7.00 on Tuesdays ), Teaching and Learning Committee (currently 6 per year 4.30-5.30 on Tuesdays) and Resources Committee (6 per year on 2-3.30pm on Thursdays) and for any additional ad hoc meetings and panels. There may be some flexibility to move the date and times of meetings following discussion with the relevant governors and staff members.

If you have a strong background in administration and are keen to learn we would strongly encourage you to apply, even if you have no school governance knowledge, as we can provide training and development.

Grade 6 scale point 12-17.£12.79 -£13.91 per hour remunerated monthly in arrears.(£24,684 - £26,845 full time equivalent).
