East Ayrshire Community Addiction Team are seeking an innovative forward thinking and creative band 4 Addiction Support Worker to be a key part of the team to enhance our existing services. The post holder will be flexible to work across East Ayrshire in order to meet service demand.
This post will be based in Lister Street, Crosshouse hospital. You will be working under the direction and supervision of senior Addictions clinical staff to develop and deliver support for individuals to encourage engagement with services, which is tailored to the individual’s needs. You should be open to new ways of working and be able to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving and changing service.
You will manage a limited and delegated caseload of individuals, focussing on those most at risk of harm, providing outreach support to individuals following near fatal overdose and encouraging engagement with services.
You will have a general understanding of substance use and associated issues and a genuine desire to work with individuals with problematic alcohol and drug use. It is desirable that you have experience of working in a community setting.
Part of this role includes working within IEP (injecting equipment provision) clinics and providing outreach support to those in rural areas. You will also be involved in reviewing, updating and ordering of supply materials such as needles, syringes, literature and leaflets ensuring adequate supply is maintained and cost effective.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are also essential.
A car owner/driver is essential, as you will be required to work across the East Ayrshire locality area.
This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 18 months.
**Hours**: 37.5 per week on a 9am to 5pm basis.
